Corinthians Rugby Tour Diary

25 Rugby lads of all shapes and sizes…
12 hours of flying time…
90 minutes of practice and drills…
11kg of prime South African steak…

The prospect of working and playing for the glory of God – Priceless

This is the first in a series of newsletters keeping all our friends and family up to date with the day to day happenings of tour, and hopefully provides you with points to remember in your prayers.

After our long overnight flight, we all landed safely in the sunny morning air of Cape Town SA and proceeded to the hotel for the first part of our stay. Immediately we were struck with what seems to be a strong paradox of South Africa where stunning scenery of rolling hills and crashing waves, postcard mountain tops and picturesque views are interspersed with razor wire and shanty towns, tower blocks and graffiti – and that was just on the ride to the hotel!

We eventually found the rugby ground of Hamilton RFC and held our first full attended training session involving a motley crew forwards grunting and making hard work look easy and a dynamic backline work on dazzling footwork and magician like hands.

In our bible study today we considered Paul's letter to the church in Galatia and looked at the authority and commission given to Christians to spread the Gospel .

After sleeping off any remnants of jet lag we ventured out with emboldened hearts and well tuned voice boxes to descend on Newlands Stadium where we watched the Currie Cup match between Western Province and Boland while entertaining both the crowd and Sky Sports with our songs.

To be continued...

Prayer Points

Thanks to God - for travel and safe arrival as a group.
That we’d have conversations and build relationships with as many people as we can.
Safety and wisdom with actions while out and about.
Pray that our actions we take every day will reflect on our faith.
That we’d be better witnesses to the change that Christ has on us.
